Geometric Abstraction and Revolution: El Lissitzky, Russian Avant-garde and the Reconstruction of the Spatio-temporal Model
摘要: 本文从抽象的乌托邦变体——几何抽象出发,探讨了革命与俄国先锋派艺术中时空概念
重构的关系。一战和俄国十月革命所带来的历史断层触发了艺术在同一层面的革新。以利西茨基为首的俄国先锋派艺术家通过在绘画、摄影、展览和理论的实践中引入时间作为构成性因素,利用数学范式——轴测法和蒙太奇等策略对多种媒介进行形式操纵与建构,批判了传统古典透视中时间和空间的分离与僵化,并最终重构了抽象艺术中的时空模型。这一重构标志着艺术创作从“图像文化”向“物质文化”的转变 ,也对应着列宁政治经济学中所包含的革命愿景,实现了新秩序的构想和意识形态的重塑,记录了革命时空的能量并为后世艺术提供了不竭的灵感来源。
Abstract: Starting from geometric abstraction, an abstract variant of utopia, this paper discusses the relationship between revolution and the reconstruction of spatio-temporal concepts in Russian avant-garde art. The historical faults brought about by the First World War and the Russian October Revolution triggered the innovation of art on the same level. Russian avant-garde led by El Lissitzky introduced time as a formative factor in painting, photography, exhibition and theoretical practice, manipulates and constructs the forms of various media through mathematical paradigms, such as axonometry and montage, criticizes the separation and rigidity of time and space in traditional classical perspective, and finally reconstructs the space-time model in abstract art. This reconstruction marks the transformation of artistic creation from “pictorial culture” to “material culture,” and corresponds to the revolutionary vision contained in Lenin’s political economy, realizing the conception of a new order and the reshaping of ideology, recording the energy of revolutionary time and space as well as providing an inexhaustible source of inspiration for later art.
